Even though September is the official month of ovarian cancer awareness. We will continue to fight...month after month to bring more awareness of ovarian cancer and its signs and symptoms! We will never, ever give up!! Taylor was a fighter and she was always frustrated that ovarian cancer had the nickname of "the silent killer". We know the symtoms are hard to diagnose and we understand that the symptoms resemble very common aches and pains that women experience on a regular basis.
Here is the information for our Thanksgiving Day 5k run/walk! Cannot wait to see you there...let's start the day negative calories! ;)
In honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness month...We would like to bring awareness to the common symptoms of ovarian cancer.
The problem is...they are too common and often go unnoticed!
Some common symptoms are:
Pressure or bloating in your lower abdomen
Constant changes in bowel and urination patterns as well as more frequent urination
Gastrointestinal complaints that are persistant and unexplained such as gas, nausea or indigestion
Abnormal bleeding or discharge
Pain during intercourse
If you get any of these symptoms and they persist over 2 weeks.
Yesterday, I reported on our Facebook page...that Mortality rates for ovarian cancer have not improved in forty years since the "War on Cancer" was declared. That information came from the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. As I reflected on the statistic, I got a little angry! Yes, I admit it...I got stinkin' mad!! With all the technological advancement today and areas of advancement in the medical arena.
